Honey garlic chicken made easy!
Ingredients
- 2 teaspoons of your oil of choice (I’d recommend avocado or olive)
- 1 ½ pounds boneless, skinless chicken breasts, cut into small cubes (about ½ inch)
- Salt and black pepper (to taste - don’t get crazy)
- 2-3 tablespoons honey
- 2-3 tablespoons low-sodium soy sauce
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- ¼ teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional, adjust for heat)
For serving (optional):
Best served with your choice of rice, made the way you prefer! Adding a little green onion and sesame seeds hits the spot.
Instructions
- Heat your oil of choice in a skillet on medium-high heat.
- Lightly season your cubed chicken with salt and pepper and add to the hot skillet for 3-4 minutes. (NOTE: The soy sauce will add plenty of sodium, so don’t go overboard with the salt)
- While the first side is browning, make your glaze by combining the honey, soy sauce, garlic and red pepper flakes in a small bowl.
- Turn the chicken pieces over to the other side and add your glaze to the chicken. Cook for another 4-5 minutes.
- Serve with steamed rice. I like to top mine with green onions and sesame seeds.
Important Things to Keep in Mind:
- To thicken up the glaze, combine 2 tsp of cornstarch with 1 tbsp of water. Add it to the glaze and it should work it’s magic pretty quickly.
- I prefer A LOT of sauce, so I make double the serving of glaze.
- I love a good leftover, but try not to keep it for more than 3-4 days!
- I grew up with six sisters, so if you need to double or triple for your family or for the sake of leftovers, DO YOUR THING!
